Local talents shining at Xposure 2024, Sharjah

Sharjah: The Xposure International Photography Festival 2024 drew to a close with the spotlight on local talents, underscoring the vibrant creativity and innovation flourishing within the region’s photography community. A diverse range of sessions engaged audiences and inspired photographers of all levels during its final three days.

From insightful discussions on photojournalism to in-depth technical sessions on different shooting genres conducted by homegrown talents, the festival provided a platform for enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels to immerse themselves in the world of photography and enhance their knowledge and skills.

Yyoung Arab journalist Ahmed Obaid led a discussion on his journey in photojournalism, offering valuable insights gained throughout his career with a talk on Perspectives of Youth in Journalism. Overcoming challenges and embracing positive experiences, Obaid shared personal anecdotes and professional advice, inspiring attendees to embark on their own storytelling journey through photography.

Renowned FPV (first person view) drone pilot and videographer, Abdulla AlQasim, took audiences on a thrilling journey into the world of drones on Monday, March 4 with his session ‘How to start your FPV journey’. Delving into his personal experiences and sharing the secrets behind his aerial photography, AlQasim provided essential tips for beginners and seasoned drone-users alike. His expertise in combining technical precision with creative vision left attendees inspired to elevate their drone flying experience to new heights.

Ahmed Alraeesi, a celebrated photographer from the UAE, led a session for beginner shutterbugs titled The Easiest Way To Learn Photography Fast. He gave guidelines and practical advice through discussions on setting goals and cultivating the right mindset for progression in one’s photography journey, leaving the participants with a sense of confidence and purpose in pursuing their passion.
The concluding day of Xposure saw expert astrophotographer Yousuf Alqasimi lead an interesting session in the realm of astronomical photography. Astrophotography offered a comprehensive overview of various ways to shoot the stars, with distinctive techniques. From star trails to deep-sky objects, Alqasimi shared the secrets behind capturing breathtaking images of celestial phenomena, and attendees will learn how to navigate challenges such as light pollution and adverse weather conditions, to elevate their astronomical photography skills.
