India passport fees will increase from July 1 following a revision approved by the Government of India. .
ABU DHABI: The India passport fees will increase by up to 75 per cent from July 1, 2026, following a revision approved by the Government of India. The new charges apply to passport and several consular services for Indian citizens in India and overseas, including the UAE.
Indian diplomatic missions in the UAE are expected to publish the revised local fee schedule in the coming days. The UAE is home to around 4.5 million Indian nationals, many of whom regularly use consular services such as passport renewals, police clearance certificates and document attestation.
Under the revised fee structure, a standard 36-page passport will cost Rs2,500, while a 60-page passport will increase to Rs3,500. Tatkal passports will be priced at Rs5,000 for a 36-page booklet and Rs6,000 for a 60-page booklet. The cost of replacing a lost or damaged 36-page passport will increase to Rs5,000 under standard processing and Rs7,500 under the Tatkal scheme. Police Clearance Certificates and Surrender Certificates will cost Rs750, while the fees for Emergency Certificates and Certificates of Identity issued overseas remain unchanged.
Indian missions in the UAE have not yet confirmed how the revised Government of India fees will affect the final amount paid locally, as applicants also pay additional service charges, the Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) fee and processing fees collected by the authorised outsourcing agency.
Separately, India’s consular services in the UAE will undergo an operational transition from July 1, 2026, when Alhind Tours and Travel begins operating the new Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs). The new centres will handle passport services, visa applications, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) services, police clearance certificates, surrender certificates and document attestation.
To facilitate the transition, BLS International and SGIVS Global stopped accepting new appointments after June 25, 2026. Routine consular services remain suspended between June 26 and June 30, 2026, while emergency passport, visa and attestation services continue through the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
The India passport fees revision and the change in service provider are separate developments, although both come into effect from July 1, 2026.
