The UAE visa on arrival programme now covers nationals of six additional countries holding eligible residence permits, making travel to the Emirates easier from July 25.

ABU DHABI: The UAE visa on arrival programme has been expanded to include nationals of six additional countries and their accompanying family members, under a new decision that takes effect on 25 July. The move is designed to simplify travel procedures and strengthen the country’s position as a leading global destination for tourism, business and investment.

Under the revised policy, ordinary passport holders from Indonesia, Viet Nam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa will be eligible for a visa on arrival if they hold a valid residence permit issued by the United States, a European Union member state, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada.

Eligible travellers may obtain either a 14-day or a 60-day visa on arrival, depending on the visa issued. The 14-day visa can be extended once while the visitor remains in the UAE, while the 60-day visa is valid for a single stay and cannot be extended. Visitors must leave the country before their visa expires, with an overstay fine of AED50 per day applying after the permitted period.

UAE visa on arrival now covers six more nationalities holding eligible residence permits, making travel easier from July 25.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the expanded UAE visa on arrival programme reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, promoting tourism and encouraging cultural, economic and people-to-people exchanges. Officials added that the initiative offers more travellers the opportunity to experience the UAE’s modern infrastructure, diverse attractions and thriving business environment.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security said the latest amendments support ongoing efforts to modernise the country’s visa framework and align entry procedures with international best practices. The Authority noted that the initiative also enhances cooperation with partner countries while reinforcing the UAE’s competitiveness in global travel, residency and tourism rankings. The UAE visa on arrival scheme is expected to provide greater convenience for eligible visitors and further support the country’s growing international connectivity.
