Dubai Municipality projects approved by Sheikh Hamdan include a falcon market, Dubai Creek lighting, an AI park design challenge and landmark urban developments.
DUBAI: A new package of Dubai Municipality projects has been approved by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, to enhance quality of life and accelerate the emirate’s vision for sustainable urban development. The initiatives support the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, with a strong focus on innovation, cultural identity, advanced technology and community wellbeing. The projects aim to create more integrated public spaces while strengthening Dubai’s position as one of the world’s most liveable and future-ready cities.
Among the flagship initiatives is the Dubai Falcon Market, the first integrated specialised falcon market in the region. Inspired by the symbolic importance of the falcon in Emirati heritage, the project combines traditional culture with contemporary architecture. Covering around 50,000 square feet and valued at approximately AED50 million, the market will feature specialist retail outlets, cultural and heritage event spaces, a veterinary clinic and visitor facilities. It also forms part of Dubai’s broader strategy to develop rural and desert destinations while preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Another major development is the Dubai Creek Lighting project, which will transform the historic waterfront into a vibrant night-time attraction. Stretching across eight kilometres, the project will introduce an advanced lighting system covering promenades, waterfront walkways, heritage markets, building façades and creek entrances. Scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2027, the initiative aims to celebrate Dubai Creek’s historical significance while creating a safe, visually striking and engaging environment for residents and visitors after sunset.
The approved Dubai Municipality projects also include the world’s first AI-Powered Park Design Challenge. The initiative invites designers, architects, university students, researchers, startups and technology innovators to develop new concepts for parks and public spaces using artificial intelligence. By combining AI tools with community participation and data-driven planning, Dubai aims to create more responsive public spaces that reflect the needs of residents while encouraging innovation within the urban design sector.
Dubai Municipality also announced a collaboration with internationally renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to develop Reservoir Park, his first park project in Dubai. The design will blend sustainability, architecture and nature while reflecting local cultural identity through a contemporary global perspective. Officials said the partnership supports Dubai’s ambition to collaborate with world-leading architects to create landmark destinations that enhance urban experiences and improve quality of life. Together, these Dubai Municipality projects reinforce Dubai’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and human-centric city planning, ensuring future generations benefit from vibrant public spaces that celebrate heritage while embracing cutting-edge technology.
