The Al Salam Cycling Championship’s 10th edition features the Dubai Court Race for Elite Men, uniting top cyclists and offering AED1 million in prizes.
DUBAI: The 10th edition of the Al Salam Cycling Championship is set to feature the highly anticipated H.H. The Ruler of Dubai Court Race for Elite Men on Sunday, January 18. Organised by the Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the race brings together top talent from across the Championship, offering a total prize purse of AED1 million.
Held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the race starts from the historic H.H. The Ruler’s Court and travels through major Dubai landmarks, culminating in the scenic Al Marmoom Reserve. This marks the second consecutive year the Elite Men’s race is hosted in cooperation with the Ruler’s Court of Dubai.
Celebrating a decade of achievements, the Al Salam Cycling Championship is the largest of its kind in the UAE, both in scale and inclusivity. The current edition, under the slogan ‘Ten Years of Achievements and Success’, began last month with the UAE Men’s Amateur Race, held in partnership with Dubai Police and themed ‘Safety and Security’.
Omair bin Juma Al Falasi, Director-General of the Private Office and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, announced the inclusion of a women’s desert race on January 31. This move supports gender inclusivity in sport and expands the Championship’s event lineup to five races for its milestone year.
Over nine past editions and the current season opener, the Championship has held 41 races with more than 5,137 riders covering nearly 4,881 kilometres. More than 2,600 competitors have earned podium finishes.
In parallel, the Championship is running the second edition of the Al Salam Cycling Championship Photography Competition in collaboration with the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award. Registrations are open until 26. The competition invites photographers to capture the vibrancy of the races and Dubai’s iconic landscapes, with cash prizes up to AED12,000 for the winners.
This year’s edition continues to receive backing from strategic partners including Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, RTA, Dubai Sports Council, the Government of Dubai Media Office, HIPA, Dubai Sports Channel, the UAE Cycling Federation, and Dubai Film, further enhancing its profile as one of the nation’s top cycling events.
