Dubai: An innovative social enterprise, E2G FOOD (EAT-2-GROW), is revolutionising food aid relief with its high-protein, ready-to-eat FOOD bar to feed the world more nutritiously and combat hunger. A registered supplier to the Emirates Red Crescent, E2G FOOD is supporting regional and global food security campaigns with its nutritional solution, which is manufactured in Dubai by Dofreeze.

Supporting communities worldwide with FOOD bars, E2G drives campaigns to create the greatest impact from consumer donations, private and organisational funding. In the past month, E2G FOOD has received monetary donations which will allow the social enterprise to send over 11,000 FOOD bars to communities worldwide. The ready-to-eat FOOD bar packs a punch with 500 calories, 30 grams of protein and natural ingredients including dates, oats, nuts and spirulina – nature’s superfood. This is nearly double the quantity of protein of a regular High Energy Biscuit, providing much-needed nutrients to communities.

Explaining the motivation behind the initiative, E2G FOOD CEO, Peter Henderson, commented, “Having worked as a cameraman for many years I saw first-hand the devastation that struck communities during crises. This inspired us to develop FOOD that addresses food insecurity through a compact, instant and nutrient-dense bar that sustains people, whilst being mindful of our planet.”

The FOOD bars are Halal, FDA certified and suitable for five years and over, and have already provided a lifeline to communities in eleven countries, including Turkey, Sudan, Ukraine and Gaza. Whether this be an immediate sustenance for frontliners needing to stay focused to save lives, or as instant relief to those struck by disaster, the FOOD bars provide a nutritious profile akin to a healthy meal. With no refrigeration, cooking or heating required and an 18-month shelf life, the FOOD is ready-to-eat and can support an eco-friendlier and more nutritious world.

“Dubai hosts Dubai Humanitarian, which is the only non-profit, independent, humanitarian free-zone authority and it is successfully attracting companies. As a British Chamber and membership organisation, our role is to support British companies in the region and we are delighted to support E2G FOOD in its disaster aid relief. We are strong advocates for this cross-continental collaboration that sees a nutritious solution, conceived in the UK, turned into a delicious high-protein bar that is produced right here in Dubai using local sweet dates. We will do our best to connect and provide visibility to support the work and mission of E2G FOOD to feed the world one food bar at a time”, said Katy Holmes, CEO from the British Chamber of Commerce Dubai.

As well as providing immediate impactful feeding solutions through the supply of FOOD bars, E2G FOOD is developing long-term solutions through the construction of spirulina microfarms for local production of a protein-source and enterprise. E2G FOOD and partners, The Cares Organization, a Dallas-based public charity, and the National Christian Foundation (NCF), are currently building the first spirulina microfarm in Zimbabwe, Harare, at Gwebi Agricultural College. Once operating it will feed 500 people per day with 5g of spirulina, the recommended daily allowance. Over the space of a year, one farm can produce up to 150,000 protein supplements – over four years this increases to 600,000 people positively impacted by the nutritional properties of spirulina.

Spirulina contributes to improved immune function, energy levels and overall well-being. It is also a sustainable, plant-based ingredient that supports the health and resilience of those in need. Due to its remarkable productivity, the plant protein can grow in climate-stressed land, be cultivated in four to five days, and be consumed by or resold into the community.

Henderson concluded, “Our impact goes beyond just nourishment: it’s about advocating a change to create more sustained feeding solutions and build lasting partnerships to empower communities. Through these partnerships we can make the greatest impact and feed the world more nutritiously.”

Join the movement and support to feed the world more nutritiously, one FOOD bar at a time.
