Hudson & Rye DIFC delivers an authentic New York deli experience with house-made pastrami, generous sandwiches and a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere in the heart of Dubai.
Dubai’s food scene keeps growing, but every now and then a place opens with a concept that feels a little different. Hudson & Rye brings the classic New York deli experience to DIFC, with a menu built around house made pastrami, generous sandwiches and American comfort food.
Created by New Yorkers Emma Zabinsky Csillag and Chef Dan Ross-Leutwyler, the idea comes from years of deli tradition, and you can tell they’re staying true to it rather than trying to reinvent it.
The pastrami sandwich is the highlight. Tender, full of flavour and stacked the way it should be. Every ingredient has its place, from the bread and mustard to the pickles on the side. It’s simple food, done really well.

The space has a relaxed neighbourhood feel that stands out in DIFC. It’s somewhere you can stop for breakfast, lunch or coffee without feeling rushed. The location works well and the atmosphere makes you want to stay a little longer.
For me, what stood out most was the consistency. Good food, quality ingredients and a clear identity. It doesn’t rely on gimmicks, just solid execution.
Hudson & Rye has already announced plans to expand across the UAE, and after this first visit, it’s easy to see why. It has all the ingredients to become one of the city’s favourite spots for a proper deli sandwich.
My verdict: Great food, great vibes and a welcome addition to Dubai’s dining scene. If you’re craving an authentic New York style pastrami sandwich, this is one worth checking out.
