UAE athletes continue to achieve international success in athletics, equestrian sport and motorsport, strengthening the country’s growing global sporting reputation.
ABU DHABI: UAE athletes are continuing to strengthen the country’s presence on the international sporting stage through impressive achievements across athletics, equestrian sport and motorsport. Their recent performances highlight the growing depth of Emirati talent and the UAE’s continued investment in developing elite competitors across a wide range of disciplines.
Among the standout performers is Fatima Al Hosani of Abu Dhabi Athletics Club, who has established herself as one of the nation’s leading female athletes in discus and shot put. After winning discus gold and shot put silver at the 2022 Gulf Games in Kuwait, she followed with shot put silver and discus bronze at the West Asian Championships in Qatar. This year, she added another discus silver and shot put bronze at the Gulf Games. Al Hosani said winning her first international gold medal at the Gulf Schools Championship inspired her ambition to compete at future world championships while proudly representing the UAE.
In equestrian sport, showjumper Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzouqi continues to earn international recognition. The International Olympic Committee selected him as a role model for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games following his historic silver medal at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, making him the first Emirati athlete to win an Olympic medal. He also claimed the Al Shira’ Tour title at the three-star Lisbon International Show and helped the UAE secure sixth place in the opening round of the European Nations Cup qualifiers for the 2026 World Championships.
Motorsport rider Mohammed Al Balooshi has further enhanced his remarkable career by becoming the first Arab competitor to win the FIM Bajas World Cup title four times. Competing for the MX Ride Dubai team, he currently leads the veterans’ standings and sits second overall despite returning from injury earlier this season. The UAE athletes featured in this week’s achievements demonstrate the country’s continued rise across international sport through determination, talent and consistent success.
