Meta has launched global subscription options across its major platforms, with Meta subscriptions set to expand through creator, business and AI-focused services.
WASHINGTON: Meta has announced a major expansion of its premium services by rolling out new consumer subscription plans across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. The move marks the company’s latest effort to diversify revenue streams while introducing enhanced features for users willing to pay for additional functionality.
The new offerings, branded as Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus, are now being launched globally. Subscribers will gain access to a range of exclusive features, including profile customisation tools, super reactions, advanced engagement options and story insights. According to Meta, more features will be added over time as the company continues to develop its premium ecosystem.
The rollout represents a significant step in the evolution of Meta subscriptions, which are designed to offer tailored experiences across each platform. Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus focus on social expression and content engagement, while WhatsApp Plus centres on messaging enhancements and personalisation tools aimed at improving everyday communication.
Meta also revealed plans to begin testing a broader subscription framework known as “Meta One”. The initiative will serve as the umbrella brand for future premium services, including specialised plans for creators, businesses and users of Meta AI products. The company believes these offerings will help support professional users while creating new opportunities for consumers seeking enhanced digital experiences.
Naomi Gleit, Meta’s Head of Product, said additional features are already being developed and will be introduced in future updates. The company sees subscriptions as a growing part of its long-term strategy, particularly as artificial intelligence becomes more deeply integrated into its services.
Meta clarified that the new Meta subscriptions do not replace Meta Verified, its existing paid service focused on identity verification, account protection and customer support. Instead, the company says both services will operate alongside each other, providing different benefits depending on user needs. As testing expands, Meta subscriptions are expected to play a larger role across the company’s social media and AI platforms.
