Urdu lovers enjoyed the Jashn e Urdu Mushaira held in Dubai

The much-awaited ‘Jashn e Urdu Mushaira’ was organized on August 20, 2022, by HBL & SHARAF EXCHANGE. The event was held at Pakistan Association Dubai, Oud Metha Road, UAE.

The purpose of this Jashn e Urdu Mushaira was to celebrate the ‘Language & Love for your family.’ To spread the message of universal brotherhood, harmony, and love through poems. The Jashn was a full house with people attending an enthralling gathering with soul-stirring renditions of Urdu Poetry after a long time.

Muhammad Iqbal, Chairman, House of ARY was the Chief Guest. Syed Ahsan Abbas Abidi – Head of HBL and Saif Khan,  Executive Vice President, Middle East Asia, Paykii were the Guest of Honour at the event.

Imad Ul Malik, the CEO of Sharaf Exchange, welcomed the guests and in his opening remarks talked about the Corporate contributions of the Sharaf Group, and how HBL supports its customer’s dreams at each step. He went on to thank the audience for gracing the event and talked about how Sharaf Exchange offers them the best rates to send money home without any hassle. Later, he talked about the richness of the Urdu language & explained the intricate experiences of expatriates living in the city, far from their homes through a sher by Syed Sarosh Asif:

“Ye Hijraton ka zamana bhi kya zamana hai

Unhi se door hai jinke liye kamana hai”

Mr. Muhammad Mudassir, DGM HBL Global Remittance Business – UAE welcomed the guests and appreciated Sharaf Exchange management for organizing the event. In his remark, he highlighted the importance of Urdu for the youth of Pakistan, especially for the children of the overseas Pakistani community. He welcomed Dr. Iftekhar Arif for coming to the event and gracing the gathering with his presence by presiding over the event.

“Har gali achi lagi har aik ghar acha rakha

Wo jo aye sheher mein to sheher bhar acha laga”

While speaking to the Pakistani audience, he stressed upon using legal channels for sending money to Pakistan and propagated the recent remittance arrangement of HBL & Sharaf Exchange, UAE.

During the event, the city’s poetry lovers had the privilege of listening to recitals by some of the prominent Urdu poets like Iftekhar Hussain Arif,  Zahoor Islam Javaid, Hameeda Shaheen,  Dr. Sabahat Wasti. The other poets who graced the event were Alok Srivastava, Ambreen Haseeb Amber, Abbas Tabish, Khalid Masood, along with a few other poets including Sagar Tripathi, Syed Sarosh Asif, Shakeel Jazib, Ali Zaryoun, Jyoti Azad, Ammar Iqbal who mesmerized the Urdu loving community with their poetries. The senior management of Sharaf Exchange & HBL Pakistan along with other renowned personalities of UAE were present at the Mushaira.
