DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has launched the Home First initiative, introducing major housing reforms to enhance Emirati family living. The initiative aligns with the Year of Community and supports the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme, reinforcing family stability and social cohesion.
Key changes include updates to the Dubai Building Code, allowing Emirati homeowners greater flexibility in designing their residences. Families can now build a separate villa for a son within the same property, expand their villas with a 100% second-floor extension, and construct a family annex before the main villa. New setback regulations also maximise space efficiency while maintaining privacy.
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Acting Director-General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted that Home First promotes a sustainable urban planning framework that meets the evolving needs of Emirati families while upholding Dubai’s architectural standards.
The initiative is part of Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aims to make Dubai the world’s best city for living. Citizens can explore the benefits of Home First on Dubai Municipality’s website or contact its call centre for details.
Dubai Municipality remains committed to enhancing housing services, ensuring a sustainable and globally competitive urban environment.
