ABU DHABI: The United States Department of Energy has described the United Arab Emirates as a reliable and long-standing energy partner, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening cooperation in global energy security, innovation, and infrastructure development.
Ben Dietderich, Press Secretary and Chief Spokesperson at the US Department of Energy, said in an interview with agencies that both countries share a deep-rooted relationship in the energy sector. He noted that this partnership is set to grow further with new investment opportunities and joint initiatives.
“We see great potential to expand our collaboration and welcome the UAE’s growing investments in American energy projects,” Dietderich stated. He added that such partnerships would drive mutual economic growth and create stronger, more resilient energy networks.
Dietderich also highlighted the strong civil nuclear cooperation between the two nations. He reaffirmed the US Department of Energy’s support for the safe and innovative use of nuclear technologies and their role in future energy solutions.
With global industries evolving rapidly, he noted the increasing importance of energy infrastructure that supports data centres and artificial intelligence. Both countries are working to ensure that their energy frameworks are ready to meet the needs of these emerging sectors.
The energy relationship extends beyond traditional trade, encompassing knowledge exchange and institutional development. The shared goal is to promote access to affordable, secure, and sustainable energy in both the UAE and the US.
In April, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright made his first official overseas visit to the UAE, underlining the strategic importance of the partnership. During his two-day trip, he met with senior officials and industry leaders to explore areas of future collaboration.
