UAE Food Bank Ramadan campaign aims to distribute eight million meals locally and globally during the Holy Month.

DUBAI: The UAE Food Bank Ramadan campaign has been launched under the directives of Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Food Bank. The initiative aims to distribute eight million meals from surplus food during Ramadan.

Part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the campaign titled ‘Bank of Goodness in the Month of Giving’ will deliver meals to beneficiaries across the UAE and abroad through five integrated initiatives.

The UAE Food Bank Ramadan campaign includes ‘Charity Fridge’, ‘My Home Without Waste’, ‘Meer Al Khair’, ‘Zabeel Iftar’ and ‘Recycle, Re-life’. These initiatives form a sustainable framework for surplus food management, promoting responsible consumption and reducing food waste.

Officials said the campaign aligns with the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051 and supports global efforts to combat hunger while advancing the circular economy. Surplus food from hotels and households will be redistributed to beneficiaries, while non edible waste will be converted into organic compost in cooperation with the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative Ne’ma.

Manal bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team at the UAE Food Bank, said the UAE Food Bank Ramadan campaign reflects the leadership’s vision to strengthen humanitarian work and extend support to the widest possible number of beneficiaries.

By expanding strategic partnerships and encouraging volunteer participation, the UAE Food Bank Ramadan campaign seeks to enhance food security, reduce carbon emissions and create lasting social and environmental impact.
