Seeds For Gaza initiative enables Careem customers to donate during Ramadan to support humanitarian relief and rebuilding efforts in Gaza.

DUBAI: Seeds For Gaza has been launched by Careem as a community-led humanitarian relief initiative during Ramadan, supporting on-ground aid and long-term rebuilding efforts in Gaza.

Through the Careem app, customers can contribute in several ways. Donations can be made directly via the in-app Donate platform to trusted partners operating on the ground. Every watermelon purchased on Careem Quik and every Seeds For Gaza T-shirt sold will see 100 percent of profits directed towards relief efforts. More than 100 participating restaurants on Careem Food will also allocate a portion of order proceeds to the campaign.

Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, said: “Seeds For Gaza comes from a deep sense of responsibility towards the people of our region. Through this initiative, we’ve made it possible for our customers, restaurant partners, and brands across the region to contribute directly to on-ground relief and long-term rebuilding efforts in Gaza. We believe that when people are given a simple way to help, they will, and together, those contributions can make a real difference.”

Inspired by the Arabic language, the campaign reimagines the dot as a watermelon seed, a recognised symbol of Palestinian resilience. The Seeds For Gaza branding has been integrated into Careem’s logo across platforms as a visible expression of solidarity.

The initiative has partnered with The Big Heart Foundation and has seen regional brands adopt the campaign identity while contributing financially. Careem has also released an open-license typeface in Arabic and English and introduced a digital generator allowing users to personalise their names with symbolic seeds for social sharing.

In 2025, Careem facilitated more than USD 700,000 in donations supporting emergency relief, education and community initiatives across the region.
