JLT Link introduces fully electric buses, 18 stops and direct metro connections across JLT and Uptown Dubai.
DUBAI: JLT Link, Dubai’s first fully electric community bus service, has begun connecting Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Uptown Dubai with major transport, retail, business and lifestyle destinations.
Launched by master developer DMCC, the service started operating on August 1, 2026. It replaces the previous RTA bus service without disrupting the existing passenger timetable, allowing residents, employees and visitors to continue travelling across the districts.
The new network is designed to make short local journeys easier while reducing dependence on private cars. Passengers can use the buses to reach offices, hotels, restaurants, cafés, shops and community facilities across both destinations.
How does the new electric bus service work?
JLT Link serves 18 stops across Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Uptown Dubai. The network includes connections to DMCC Metro Station and Sobha Realty Metro Station, giving passengers easier access to Dubai’s wider public transport system.
Two circular routes within JLT operate every 20 minutes. A separate route connecting Uptown Dubai with DMCC Metro Station runs at 30-minute intervals.
The internal JLT services operate from Monday to Saturday between 6.30am and 9.30pm. On Sundays, buses run from 9.30am until 12.30am. The Uptown Dubai route operates from 6.55am until 8pm.
The electric fleet includes buses with 16, 23 and 31 seats. Each vehicle has low-floor access, wheelchair-friendly features and standing space, making the service suitable for passengers with different mobility needs.
Why has DMCC introduced electric buses?
The project forms part of DMCC’s wider plan to improve connectivity while supporting cleaner urban transport. It also complements environmental initiatives already introduced across JLT, including solar-powered infrastructure, Dubai Can drinking water stations and recycling facilities.
By using fully electric vehicles, the service is expected to reduce transport-related emissions from short journeys and support Dubai’s ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

The service is also expected to support Uptown Dubai’s continued expansion as a commercial and lifestyle destination by giving workers, residents and visitors a reliable connection between the district and nearby metro stations.
