RAJKOT: An IndiGo flight travelling from Dubai to Mumbai made a precautionary emergency landing in Gujarat’s Rajkot after the crew detected smoke in the aircraft’s cargo hold.
Flight 6E 1452, operated by an Airbus A321, was carrying 194 passengers and crew when the smoke alert was reported. The pilots immediately informed air traffic control, prompting Rajkot International Airport to declare a full emergency and activate its standard emergency response procedures.
The aircraft landed safely at Rajkot International Airport, where emergency teams, including firefighters, ambulances and rescue personnel, were already on standby. All passengers were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.

Rajkot Airport Director Diganta Borah confirmed that the diversion was carried out purely as a precaution after smoke was detected in the cargo hold. He said emergency protocols were followed to ensure the safety of everyone on board.
The cause of the smoke has not yet been determined, and an investigation is expected to establish what triggered the alert. Authorities have not reported any fire or damage to the aircraft following the landing.

The incident briefly disrupted operations at Rajkot airport as emergency measures were put in place. Airport officials also coordinated with local authorities and medical teams until the situation was declared safe.
