Dubai’s New Year 2026 celebration features 48 fireworks displays, 43-hour metro service, road closures, and over 20,000 parking spots.
DUBAI: Dubai is gearing up for an extraordinary New Year’s Eve 2026, unveiling plans for 48 fireworks displays across 40 major locations citywide. The initiative, coordinated by government authorities, aims to provide safe, exciting, and well-managed experiences for residents and tourists welcoming the new year.
Iconic destinations like Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Bluewaters Island, Expo City Dubai, and Global Village will host synchronised fireworks shows. Other venues include Dubai Creek Harbour, Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm, and Palm Jebel Ali, showcasing the city’s world-class event coordination.
To manage traffic and pedestrian flow, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will enforce phased road closures starting from 4pm on December 31. Streets near Downtown Dubai — including Al Mustaqbal Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and Burj Khalifa Street — will be closed in stages. A complete closure of Sheikh Zayed Road is scheduled from 6am on December 31 until 2am on January 2.
To support the expected surge of 2.5 million+ passengers, the Dubai Metro and Tram will operate non-stop for 43 hours. Metro lines will run from 5am on December 31 until 11:59pm on January 1, while trams will run from 6am on December 31 until 1am on January 2. Extra support will be provided at key stations such as Emirates Towers, Financial Centre, Business Bay, and Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall.
Over 14,000 taxis, 1,300+ buses, and thousands of limousines will support public travel, with 20,000 parking spots near Downtown Dubai and another 8,000 near Metro stations. Overflow parking will be available at Al Wasl Club and Al Kifaf, among others.
Authorities urge attendees to arrive early, use public transport, and follow updates from official sources to ensure a safe and enjoyable start to 2026.
