H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed met with over 200 local dignitaries and families from Deira at the first ‘Dubai Lunch’ event, strengthening community bonds through shared traditions and dialogue.

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, met with more than 200 local dignitaries and families from Deira at Al Khawaneej Majlis as part of the newly launched ‘Dubai Lunch’ initiative.

Held under the supervision of the Community Development Authority, the event was hosted following an invitation from Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah. The ‘Dubai Lunch’ is a community‑driven initiative designed to strengthen social ties and reinforce neighbourly bonds through gatherings held at Community Majlises across Dubai.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that strengthening social cohesion is central to the emirate’s development, saying that a city’s strength is measured not only by its infrastructure but by the strength of its social fabric and the close bonds shared by its people. He noted that Community Majlises have long served as inclusive spaces where people meet, talk, connect and pass on values through lived experience.

“Through the ‘Dubai Lunch’ initiative, we aim to reaffirm the principles that have shaped Dubai since its earliest days, including compassion, open communication, hospitality and shared responsibility,” Sheikh Hamdan said. He added that these values are essential to guiding the city’s future.

The initiative will continue with open lunch gatherings at Community Majlises throughout Dubai, reflecting Emirati hospitality and reinforcing the customs and principles of the UAE’s cohesive society. These events aim to enhance social capital, build sustainable relationships among residents of the same neighbourhood, and encourage community participation in public life in line with Dubai Social Agenda 33.

Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director‑General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, said the initiative brings the leadership’s vision of people‑centred development into community action. She noted that modern Community Majlises are evolving into venues that foster sustainable human relationships and contribute to a better quality of life.

As Dubai prepares to celebrate the Year of the Family 2026, the initiative was tailored to strengthen connection and communication, revive the authentic social role of Majlises and bring residents closer together with a shared sense of belonging and collective awareness.
