Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan has approved a plan to build 152 new parks and 33km of cycling tracks, enhancing liveability and green spaces.

DUBAI: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has approved a comprehensive plan to establish 152 new public parks across Dubai, reinforcing the city’s commitment to urban sustainability and community wellbeing.

The parks will be located in the Madinat Latifa and Al Yalayis areas, with a smart layout ensuring that no resident is more than 150 metres away from a green space. The initiative forms part of Dubai’s “20-minute city” strategy, which aims to increase accessibility to essential services and recreational areas within a short walking distance.

Announced by the Dubai Government Media Office, the plan also includes the development of more than 33 kilometres of cycling paths, expanding the city’s active mobility infrastructure and promoting healthier lifestyles.

This urban planning model reflects Dubai’s future-forward vision of integrating green, recreational and active spaces into residential areas. The interconnected park network is designed not only to provide leisure options but also to serve as climate-responsive public spaces that contribute to community bonding and improved air quality.

The parks are set to become vibrant hubs of outdoor activity and relaxation, aligned with broader efforts to boost urban liveability and environmental sustainability. They will also support Dubai’s long-term goal of positioning itself among the world’s most walkable and nature-integrated cities.

This project is a key part of Dubai’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all residents and to building cohesive neighbourhoods that promote wellness, sustainability, and social inclusion.
