Google’s new AI travel tools, including Canvas and Flight Deals, help you plan custom trips, find cheaper fares and book faster — just by asking.

MOUNTAIN VIEW: Just in time for the holidays, Google has rolled out a suite of AI-powered travel features designed to make planning your next trip easier, smarter and a lot more fun. Whether you’re mapping out a big 2026 getaway or just trying to lock in a family dinner spot, Google’s new tools aim to cut through the noise and help you go from dream to done in minutes.

At the heart of these updates is Canvas in AI Mode, a planning workspace that lets you build custom travel itineraries step-by-step. You simply tell AI Mode what kind of trip you’re planning — whether it’s a foodie weekend or a hiking adventure — and click “Create Canvas.” Instantly, you’ll get a personalised plan in the Canvas side panel, with live flight and hotel data, Google Maps listings, reviews, and curated picks for restaurants and activities. You can tweak everything by asking follow-up questions, like whether it’s better to stay closer to brunch or closer to the trailhead.

Right now, Canvas travel planning is available to desktop users in the U.S. who are enrolled in the AI Mode experiment in Google Labs.

For deal-hunters, Flight Deals is a standout. This AI tool inside Google Flights helps you discover affordable destinations based on your flexibility. Just describe your ideal travel plans in plain language — “a beach trip in March, not too pricey” — and Flight Deals will surface top bargain routes. First launched in the U.S., Canada and India, it’s now expanding to over 200 countries, including the U.K., Japan, France, and Brazil, with support for 60+ languages.

Next up is agentic AI booking, designed to take the stress out of making reservations. Just describe what you need — like “dinner for six near downtown at 8pm, with vegan options” — and Google AI will scan platforms like OpenTable, Resy, and Ticketmaster to return real-time availability. You get a clean list of options with direct links to book. Restaurant booking is now live in the U.S., with event ticket and appointment booking already available to Labs users.

Soon, Google plans to roll out flight and hotel booking directly within AI Mode, working alongside travel giants like Booking.com, Marriott, Expedia, and IHG to let you compare and book on the spot.

Altogether, these new tools show how Google is shifting travel planning into a new era — one where you can dream up a trip, tweak every detail, and seal the deal without needing ten open tabs.
