DUBAI: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with Keolis MHI, has developed an integrated digital system to enhance and upgrade the passenger experience across Dubai Metro and Tram stations. This new platform streamlines inspection operations, improves monitoring, and ensures smoother journeys for commuters.
The system automates fare inspections and tracks violations such as unauthorised use of the Gold Class cabin and misuse of women-only spaces. By using data-driven insights, it optimises inspector deployment, ensuring high-priority areas receive increased attention. The real-time monitoring feature allows for instant updates and generates analytical reports to improve operational efficiency.
During major events, the system helps predict high-footfall stations, enabling a proactive approach to fare inspections. It also identifies repeat offenders, helping educate them on proper transport etiquette. Since its implementation, RTA has reported a 14% increase in monthly inspections and improved compliance among passengers.
Beyond enforcement, the initiative aligns with Dubai’s sustainability goals by reducing resource consumption and promoting environmentally friendly transport solutions. The system is supported by a specialised monitoring centre, equipped with live tracking screens to ensure swift responses to passenger safety concerns and violations.
By leveraging technology, RTA continues to set new benchmarks in public transport efficiency, making Dubai Metro and Tram more reliable, convenient, and passenger-friendly.
