DUBAI: Dubai International Airport traffic is expected to reach record levels, with over 2.5 million passengers passing through DXB from February 20 to 28. The airport will handle an average of 280,000 travellers daily, peaking at more than 295,000 on February 22.
A combination of global events and school holidays across key markets is driving the surge, making this one of DXB’s busiest travel periods. Dubai International, ranked as the world’s busiest international airport, is preparing to accommodate the high influx by enhancing passenger services and operational efficiency.
Authorities at DXB are urging travellers to plan ahead and use public transport to avoid congestion. Dubai Metro is recommended for transfers between Terminals 1 and 3, providing a seamless connection for passengers. For those arriving at Terminal 1, the Arrivals bus stop will be out of service from February 21. Alternative transport options and updated bus schedules are available on the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website.
To ensure smooth operations, DXB has deployed additional staff, increased customer service touchpoints, and enhanced baggage handling capacity. Passengers are advised to check in online, arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure, and stay updated on flight schedules.
Retail and hospitality services at the airport are also gearing up for the increased footfall, with duty-free outlets, lounges, and dining facilities extending their services. With Dubai remaining a preferred transit hub, the airport’s ability to manage such high passenger volumes reinforces its global aviation leadership.
As DXB prepares for one of its busiest travel windows, travellers are encouraged to follow real-time updates and plan their journeys accordingly. The surge in Dubai International Airport traffic underscores the city’s position as a global aviation powerhouse.
