UAE strongly condemns attack on refugee camp in Gaza

The UAE, while strongly condemning the deadly attack in the Jabalia refugee camp resulting in the tragic loss of at least 50 Palestinian lives, renews its urgent call for a ceasefire in Gaza. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent Israeli air strikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. These strikes have unfortunately resulted in numerous casualties and injuries. The UAE emphasizes that such indiscriminate attacks will have severe and lasting consequences in the region.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further loss of life. The Ministry underscores the utmost importance of safeguarding civilians, in accordance with international humanitarian law and international treaties. It is imperative that civilians are not targeted during conflicts.

Additionally, the Ministry has highlighted the significance of the United Nations General Assembly resolution, which advocates for a humanitarian truce in Gaza and the cessation of hostilities. This resolution serves as a critical step toward de-escalation, with a primary focus on safeguarding civilians, preserving their lives, and ensuring the immediate, secure, sustainable, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid.

In response to these developments, the United Nations Security Council convened an emergency meeting at the UAE’s request. This meeting addressed Israel’s announcement of an expansion of ground operations in the Gaza Strip and called upon the international community to remain steadfast in its efforts to end the ongoing cycle of conflict.

The UAE emphasizes that the absence of a political resolution poses a substantial risk of catastrophic repercussions. Ignoring these potential consequences could lead to devastating outcomes, severely impacting the prospects for peace and stability in the region.
