Events and concerts cancelled due to Palestinian-Israeli crisis
Wed 01 Nov 2023Many companies, schools and organisations have cancelled events and celebrations in light of the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
From street demonstrations to online viral statements, the global community is taking a stance and addressing the devastating impact of the crises through various means.
UAE, known for its various events, often draw large crowds and were eagerly anticipated by residents and visitors alike. In response to global events, organisers have decided to cancel various significant gatherings, festivals, and exhibitions.
GEMS groups has also take the decision to cancel celebrations and events until further notice. the same has been intimated by email to parents of students (Grade KG – Grade 12).
While this is undoubtedly disappointing for those looking forward to these events, the decision underscores the seriousness of the current situation. As an international education provider serving families of all cultures and backgrounds, GEMS Group believes “events of a celebratory nature would be inappropriate given the current circumstances.” However academic and curriculum-based events (eg. sports day) will be held as usual.

Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and Coca Cola Arena in Dubai have seen cancellation or postponement of events by international artists. Concerts by Amr Diab, Sean Paul & T.I, Khalid, Jo Koy and Macklemore have been postponed. Fans who bought tickets for these shows have been advised to “keep an eye on your email for updates”.
Dubai-developers Nakheel and Emaar have also announced the cancellation of events and festivities in their respective communities due to the “current global situation” and “ongoing challenges faced by our global community”.
Meanwhile, the world remains hopeful for a resolution to the conflict and a return to the vibrancy.
