UAE private sector support sees developers, hotels, and businesses offer accommodation, meals and repairs to stranded residents.

DUBAI/Abu Dhabi: UAE private sector support has emerged as a defining response in recent days, with companies across the country stepping forward to assist stranded travellers and distressed families. Rather than limiting their role to statements of solidarity, businesses have mobilised properties, hotel rooms, and operational resources to provide immediate relief.

Real estate developers have led several initiatives. Karma Developers, a renowned UAE developer, has provided temporary accommodation to numerous families and individuals in Dubai’s elite communities during the recent uncertainty. This initiative provided immediate short-term housing solutions to individuals and families in urgent need of safe and permanent shelter.

Properties in Jumeirah Village Circle, Palm Jumeirah, and other residential areas were opened to accommodate those affected. Approximately 300-400 people were able to access fully serviced temporary housing, ensuring comfort and security during a time of uncertainty. Priority was given to households with young children, elderly members, and those with fewer immediate options.

In a joint statement, management said the company has grown alongside the UAE for decades and believes it has a duty to truly help when courage is tested. They emphasized that helping people during difficult times reflects the values on which the organization is built.

Danube Group, a renowned UAE developer, is providing free accommodation to over 450 people in 45 apartments at Danube Properties. They are also trying to purchase as many rooms as possible for those in need.

Rizwan Sajan, Founder and Chairman, Danube Group: “I have always believed that success has no meaning unless it is used to help others. Providing free accommodation at Danube Properties to those stranded in Dubai is our way of ensuring that no one feels alone during this difficult time. I personally experienced moments of uncertainty during my time in Kuwait, and I understand the fear and helplessness many people are facing today. The Dubai government is making every effort to support the community, and this is our small contribution to those commendable efforts. So far, we have been able to provide accommodation to over 450 stranded individuals and will continue to support many more. Families and senior citizens are our top priority, and we are also arranging hotel accommodations if needed.

Peace Homes Developments, Dugasta Properties, and Imtiaz Developments also announced free temporary accommodation and broader assistance measures.

Observers note that UAE private sector support reflects a broader culture of collective responsibility, reinforcing stability and public confidence during uncertain times.

Abu Dhabi will cover hotel expenses for stranded guests: Abu Dhabi authorities have directed hotels across the emirate to extend the stays of guests who are unable to travel due to the current situation. The government has confirmed that it will cover the cost of the extra nights.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism issued this directive to hotel operators. The circular stated, “Given the current situation and the fact that some guests have reached their check-out date but are unable to travel due to reasons beyond their control, hotels are requested to extend their stays until they can leave.”

Hotels were instructed to allow affected guests to remain in their rooms beyond their original booking date if they are unable to leave the country.

The department confirmed that the extended stay will not be a financial burden on either guests or hotel operators. “The cost of overstay will be borne by DCT Abu Dhabi,” the circular said.
