Google Personal Intelligence launches in the Arab world, enabling Gemini to deliver tailored insights using connected apps with strong privacy controls.

DUBAI: Google Personal Intelligence has officially launched across the Arab world, enhancing the Gemini app with more personalised and context-aware capabilities. The feature allows users to connect apps such as Gmail and Google Photos, enabling Gemini to generate responses based on individual data and preferences.

Previously introduced in the United States, the rollout marks a significant regional expansion of Google’s AI ecosystem. Google Personal Intelligence is designed to combine reasoning across multiple data sources with the ability to retrieve specific details from emails, images and videos. This enables more accurate and tailored responses for tasks such as travel planning, recommendations and daily organisation.

A key aspect of Google Personal Intelligence is its strong focus on privacy and user control. The feature is turned off by default, requiring users to manually enable it and choose which apps to connect. Users can also disable access at any time, ensuring flexibility and transparency in how their data is used.

When activated, Gemini accesses existing data securely stored within Google’s ecosystem rather than requiring users to upload sensitive information externally. The system also provides clarity by referencing or explaining the sources behind its responses, helping users verify the information being used.

Google Personal Intelligence is currently available to subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans across the region. The company has indicated that broader access, including availability for free-tier users, is expected in the coming weeks.

To enable the feature, users can navigate to Gemini settings, select Personal Intelligence and choose the apps they wish to connect. As AI adoption accelerates in the Middle East, Google Personal Intelligence represents a major step towards more intuitive and personalised digital experiences.
