Dubai Green Corridor helped secure trade flows and supply chains as regional shipping disruptions impacted global commerce routes.
DUBAI: Dubai Customs announced strong results from its Green Corridor initiative, launched with Oman Customs to maintain trade flows and support supply chain resilience during regional shipping disruptions.
The Dubai Green Corridor was activated in March 2026 within 72 hours of disruptions affecting major sea lanes and traditional trade routes across the region. The initiative created alternative overland routes linking Oman and Dubai, helping businesses maintain cargo movement and avoid delays impacting global supply chains.
Dubai Customs said customs declarations processed through the Dubai Green Corridor surged from 12,000 in March to nearly 100,000 in April 2026. The total value of transported goods also rose sharply from AED1 billion to more than AED8 billion during the same period.
The initiative enabled faster customs clearance for shipments heading to Jebel Ali Port, the local UAE market and international re-export destinations. Authorities said advanced monitoring systems, unified customs procedures and sealed transport operations ensured security and operational efficiency throughout cargo transit.
Dubai Customs also introduced several facilitation measures, including extending transit periods for goods from 30 days to 90 days, giving businesses greater flexibility to reorganise logistics operations amid changing regional conditions.
Dr Abdulla Busenad, Director-General of Dubai Customs, said the Dubai Green Corridor reflects Dubai’s rapid-response approach to maintaining trade continuity and supporting economic stability during challenging conditions. He added that the initiative demonstrated Dubai’s ability to transform operational challenges into opportunities that strengthen resilience and investor confidence.
The corridor also supported shipments arriving through Fujairah and Khorfakkan ports, allowing containers to move directly overland to Dubai without lengthy customs procedures at arrival ports.
The Dubai Green Corridor is now being viewed as a major strategic success that reinforced Dubai’s position as one of the world’s leading trade and logistics hubs.
