DUBAI: Under the campaign launched by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to support Lebanon, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has initiated dedicated education programmes through the Digital School, under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). This initiative, known as the Lebanon Education Continuity Project (2024-2025), aims to ensure ongoing education for Lebanese children affected by current challenges.

This project, part of the UAE’s humanitarian response, includes emergency aid in food and healthcare and will benefit 40,000 students initially. Leveraging integrated digital platforms, it offers educational programmes for students and vital training resources for teachers, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to education as a foundation for community resilience and sustainable development.

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI, emphasised that the project aligns with directives from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, aiming to address the educational needs of Lebanon, where many children risk falling behind academically. He highlighted that the project, managed by the Digital School, utilises smart solutions and content aligned with Lebanon’s curriculum, emphasising the UAE leadership’s belief in education as a vital tool for community development.

This digital initiative is set to reach children in displacement centres in Lebanon, even in areas lacking consistent internet connectivity. In October, Sheikh Mohammed directed MBRGI to partner with the United Nations World Food Programme to provide emergency food aid, benefitting 250,000 Lebanese people.

Launched in October 2024, the UAE Stands with Lebanon campaign, coordinated by Emirati humanitarian organisations, has seen robust community involvement. Collection centres across the UAE gathered medical and essential supplies, later sent to Lebanon by air and sea.

MBRGI’s commitment to improving education in developing nations includes initiatives to support literacy, train teachers, and build educational infrastructure, fostering knowledge and awareness among Arab youth to prepare them for future challenges.
