DUBAI: Moscow is rapidly strengthening its tourism ties with the UAE, with visitor numbers from the Emirates soaring. Bulat Nurmukhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee, revealed that Moscow welcomes 26 million tourists annually, with ambitious plans to exceed 50 million by 2030.

Speaking at a media gathering in Dubai, Nurmukhanov highlighted the UAE’s growing interest in Moscow. “The Gulf region, especially the UAE, is a key market, and we are eager to see more Emiratis making Moscow a regular destination,” he stated.

Tourism figures from the UAE have skyrocketed, with Moscow welcoming over 40,000 Emirati visitors in the first nine months of last year—a dramatic increase from just 5,000 in 2022. “The growth is phenomenal, and we are here to sustain this momentum,” Nurmukhanov added.

A delegation from Moscow, including representatives from the Russian federal government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed deep appreciation for Arab partners. “We are here to thank Arab businesses, Emirati travel operators, and stakeholders actively engaged with the Russian market—particularly Moscow,” he said.

Moscow’s tourism strategy aligns with Mayor Sergey Sobyanin’s vision to double annual visitors by 2030. The city is actively working to enhance cultural and economic ties between Russia and the GCC region.

As Moscow positions itself as a top global travel destination, its growing ties with the UAE promise stronger tourism, business, and cultural exchanges in the years ahead.
