Iran tells UN it will continue exercising its right to self defence until what it calls aggression fully ceases.

TEHRAN: Iran tells UN it will continue to exercise what it describes as its right to self defence until aggression against the country “ceases fully and unequivocally”, according to a letter sent to the United Nations.

In the communication addressed to UN officials, Tehran stated that it considers ongoing military actions against it as violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Iranian authorities maintained that any defensive measures taken are in line with international law and the UN Charter.

The letter further declared that all United States and Israeli bases, facilities and assets in the region are regarded as legitimate military targets in the context of the current confrontation. This statement marks a significant escalation in rhetoric amid intensifying regional hostilities.

Diplomatic sources said the correspondence was circulated among UN member states as tensions continue to rise following recent military exchanges involving Iran, the United States and Israel. The developments have prompted renewed calls from global leaders for restraint and de escalation to prevent further destabilisation.

Security analysts warn that Iran tells UN of its continued self defence posture at a critical moment, potentially widening the scope of the conflict if military actions persist. Several countries across the Gulf have already implemented precautionary measures in response to the unfolding situation.

International observers stress the importance of diplomatic engagement to avoid further escalation. Iran tells UN that its actions will continue until it believes threats against it have ended, signalling that the crisis may remain volatile in the coming days.
