Sharjah Ruler approves integrated media hub at Shams, unifying government media entities and launching cutting-edge “Shams Studios” and creative projects.
SHARJAH: In a bold move to reshape the media landscape, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has approved the launch of the region’s largest unified government media hub within Sharjah Media City (Shams). The development marks a pivotal moment in enhancing Sharjah’s media infrastructure, aligning with a strategic vision to build a globally competitive media ecosystem.
The ambitious project, guided by the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, aims to unify government media operations and foster creative growth through cutting-edge facilities and international collaboration.
Central to this initiative is “Shams Studios”—set to become the most advanced media production environment in the region. The complex will feature five major studios ranging between 1,500 and 3,400 square metres, alongside post-production facilities such as editing suites, visual effects labs, and sound design studios. These facilities will serve filmmakers, TV producers, and digital content creators, supporting both local talent and global partnerships.
The new integrated media business park will house the Sharjah Media Council, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and media companies under one roof, enhancing synergy and streamlining communication efforts. Four buildings will be constructed—each designed to support operational excellence, collaboration, and innovation across media sectors.
A modern headquarters for the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority is also in development, comprising state-of-the-art infrastructure to boost broadcast quality and technological capacity. This phase includes dedicated buildings for administration, news, and Sharjah Sports Channel operations.
Adding to Sharjah’s cultural fabric, the “Shams Creative Oasis” will feature a 700-seat theatre and host arts, educational events, and talent development programmes—cementing Sharjah’s reputation as a centre for cultural innovation and creative youth engagement.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed stated, “Investing in media is investing in people and identity. Sharjah is building a future-focused, responsible, and culturally driven media ecosystem that reflects our values and amplifies our voice globally.”
With this multi-layered project, Sharjah sets a new benchmark in regional media development—empowering local creativity, attracting global productions, and unifying public sector communication under one visionary framework.
