DUBAI: A major milestone in Dubai’s road infrastructure has been achieved as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) officially opened a vital bridge linking Jumeirah Street to Al Mina Street towards the Infinity Bridge. The launch is part of the ambitious Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project.
Spanning 985 metres, the new two-lane bridge can handle 3,200 vehicles per hour, offering much-needed relief for drivers in the area. It allows for uninterrupted traffic flow, eliminating the need for stopping at signals, and cuts travel time by 67%, from 12 minutes to just 4.
This development is part of Phase 4 of the corridor project, which covers a 4.8 km stretch from the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to the Falcon Intersection on Al Mina Street.
The RTA says the project follows directives from Dubai’s leadership to meet the emirate’s growing urban and population demands, while easing traffic congestion and enhancing safety.
Phase 4 also includes five more bridges totalling 3.1 kilometres, designed to support 19,400 vehicles per hour in total. Road enhancements and surface upgrades are ongoing at key junctions, including those on Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street. Two pedestrian bridges—on Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street—are also part of the plan.
Another major step will arrive in Q2 2025 with the completion of a 780-metre bridge connecting Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Street, set to carry 4,800 vehicles per hour.
This new link between Jumeirah Street and Al Mina Street is expected to transform mobility in one of Dubai’s busiest areas, boosting connectivity and reducing bottlenecks.
