DUBAI: With the Dubai Fountain temporarily closed for upgrades, Emaar rent relief has come as a welcome move for food and beverage (F&B) tenants at Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar. Starting June 2025, Emaar Malls Management will waive rent for four months for over 50 restaurants and cafes that operate terraces facing the iconic lake and fountain area.
The closure of the Dubai Fountain—one of the city’s biggest crowd-pullers—is expected to impact terrace footfall and the dining experience. Emaar’s rent support runs from June to September 2025, covering the key summer season. This strategic gesture aims to help F&B operators stay resilient through reduced tourist traffic caused by the five-month renovation of the fountain.
To make up for the missing wow factor of the fountain shows, Emaar is also adding a new layer of attraction. The promenade will be transformed with 400 metres of advanced digital screens, offering immersive visual content to draw visitors and keep the area buzzing.
The lake and fountain-facing terraces have always been among the most coveted spots for diners and tourists. Known for stunning views, vibrant atmosphere, and premium dining, these locations heavily benefit from fountain performances. Emaar’s decision shows its commitment to supporting tenants through challenging times, ensuring the long-term health of its retail community.
Chairman Mohamed Alabbar noted the importance of the Dubai Fountain to tenant success and reiterated Emaar’s focus on building long-term partnerships and business confidence during this transition.
Even as the fountain goes dark for a short time, Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar aim to shine with digital innovation, top-class food, and unmissable views.
