Dubai RTA smart mobility projects showcased as Hamdan reviews innovation driving faster, safer and more sustainable transport solutions.

DUBAI: Dubai RTA smart mobility projects took centre stage as H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reviewed a series of advanced initiatives aimed at transforming the city’s transport system and enhancing quality of life.

The visit highlighted how Dubai is rethinking urban mobility through innovation, not just infrastructure. Officials presented three key developments under the Dubai RTA smart mobility projects, including a rapid intervention vehicle, a smart bus station and new soft mobility parking facilities.

One of the standout innovations was the rapid intervention vehicle, designed to respond to emergencies such as heavy rainfall. Equipped with high-capacity pumps, rescue tools and even a thermal drone, it can reduce response times by more than 75 per cent, ensuring quicker action and smoother traffic flow during disruptions.

The Dubai RTA smart mobility projects also include a next-generation smart bus station in Al Barsha. The station is nearly complete and offers a fully digital, paperless experience integrated with transport apps and smart cards. It uses solar energy, artificial intelligence cameras and air quality sensors, setting new standards for sustainable public transport.

Another focus area is soft mobility, with dedicated parking for bicycles and electric scooters. These facilities are designed to support first and last-mile travel, making it easier for residents to connect with public transport. The initiative comes as cycling trips in Dubai continue to rise, reflecting changing mobility habits.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that such projects reflect a broader vision to position Dubai as a global leader in future-ready cities. The Dubai RTA smart mobility projects are part of a long-term strategy to combine technology, sustainability and efficiency in everyday transport.

With pilot rollouts set to begin in July 2026, these initiatives signal how Dubai is not just planning for the future, but actively building it.
