DUBAI: Dubai Police has detailed the traffic violations detected by AI-enabled radars, highlighting fines, vehicle impoundments, and black points to improve road safety and reduce accidents.

At a press conference at the Dubai Police Headquarters’ Research and Development Centre, senior officers, including Brigadier Issam Ibrahim Al Awar and Brigadier Engineer Mohammad Ali Karam, outlined how smart radar systems track key infractions.

Speeding remains a major offence. Drivers exceeding the speed limit by over 80 km/h face a hefty AED 3,000 fine, a 60-day vehicle impoundment, and 23 black points. Exceeding by 60 km/h results in a AED 2,000 fine, a 20-day impoundment, and 12 black points. Lower speeding violations range from AED 300 to AED 1,000, depending on excess speed.

Running a red light carries a AED 1,000 fine, 30-day impoundment, and 12 black points. Driving against traffic results in a AED 600 fine, 7-day impoundment, and 4 black points. Illegal shoulder driving incurs a AED 1,000 fine, 30-day impoundment, and 6 black points.

Failure to wear a seatbelt leads to a AED 400 fine and 4 black points, while mobile phone use while driving attracts an AED 800 fine and 4 black points. Over-tinting vehicle windows results in a AED 1,500 fine.

Reckless driving, including not maintaining a safe distance (AED 400, 4 black points), excessive noise (AED 2,000, 12 black points), and blocking pedestrian crossings (AED 500, 6 black points), also leads to penalties.

Dubai Police urges drivers to follow road rules, warning that AI-powered radars will strictly monitor violations to enhance safety across the emirate.
