The UAE will establish an 8 exaflop India AI supercomputer in partnership with leading institutions, boosting sovereign AI capacity and national innovation.

NEW DELHI: The UAE has announced plans to deploy an 8 exaflop India AI supercomputer, marking a significant step forward in India’s sovereign artificial intelligence capabilities. The project was revealed during the AI Impact Summit 2026 in the capital and reflects deepening strategic ties between the two nations.

The system will be delivered by Abu Dhabi based technology group G42 and US chipmaker Cerebras, in collaboration with Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing. With a peak capacity of eight exaflops, the platform represents a major leap in computational power and positions India among a select group of countries operating at exaflop scale.

Hosted entirely within the country, the infrastructure will function under India defined governance frameworks. All data will remain within national jurisdiction, ensuring compliance with sovereign security requirements. Officials say the India AI supercomputer will serve as a foundational asset under the India AI Mission and expand domestic compute access for advanced model training and inference.

“Sovereign AI infrastructure is becoming essential for national competitiveness,” said Manu Jain, CEO of G42 India. “This project brings that capability to India at a national scale, enabling local researchers, innovators, and enterprises to become AI-native while maintaining full data sovereignty and security.”

Once operational, the India AI supercomputer will be accessible to universities, startups, small and medium enterprises, and government ministries. The democratised model aims to reduce barriers to innovation across sectors such as healthcare, agriculture and education, supporting solutions tailored to India’s 1.4 billion citizens.

The initiative builds on broader UAE India cooperation across defence, technology, space and energy, signalling a new phase of trusted digital partnership.
