Good Samaritans of the UAE donated AED3.3 million with their food orders in 2022

Dubai: talabat revealed that it raised over AED3.3 million through customer in-app donations, an equivalent to 1.9 million meals, in 2022. By teaming up with trusted local, regional, and international charity partners, talabat enabled customers in the UAE to donate online safely through the app and support a number of different causes.

In addition to its continued collaboration with charities such as Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), Emirates Red Crescent, The World Food Programme (WFP), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Dubai Cares, UAE Food Bank, as well as Dubai Culture to launch the Ramadan Heroes initiative, talabat is looking to introduce new charities and causes for people to choose from in 2023.

Customers can find virtual charities on the talabat app by simply going to the “Give back” option under ‘Top picks’ on the homepage or searching for the charity of choice through the search tool. Donations can also be made by redeeming ‘talabat Rewards’ points and donating them towards registered charities.

The One Billion Meals campaign

talabat UAE raised AED 1.2 million in support of the “One Billion Meals” campaign – the biggest humanitarian initiative of its kind in the region to distribute vital food support to the underprivileged and vulnerable in 50 countries, organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).

Emirates Red Crescent & Ramadan Heroes

Through its ongoing partnership with Emirates Red Crescent, talabat UAE raised over AED 898,000 customer in-app donations towards the facilitation of sustainable food, water and income supply to underprivileged communities, an equivalent to more than 32,900 meals. These figures include contributions made during the third edition of the ‘Ramadan Heroes’ initiative, in collaboration with Dubai Culture and the UAE Food Bank, supporting 110,944 beneficiaries across the UAE in Ramadan.

The World Food Programme

The successful long-term partnership with the World Food Programme resulted in facilitating the donation of an equivalent of over 340,000 meals in 2022. talabat also supported emergency relief efforts in Pakistan through its #AlwaysThere initiative, where the company matched customer donations made to WFP during the first three days of the campaign.

Loyalty program donations through talabat Rewards

Customers redeemed the value of 414,577,490 talabat Rewards points, the equivalent of over AED 560,000, facilitating the donation of more than 430,000 meals towards Dubai Cares school feeding programs, as well as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Additionally, across the region, talabat raised more than AED 14 million in customer in-app donations, equivalent to 2.4 million meals, to 34 virtual charities last year, making talabat the biggest contributor to its parent company Delivery Hero’s 10 million meals milestone. talabat’s achievement is part of Delivery Hero’s global food donation program to fight world hunger, including a flagship partnership with the World Food Programme’s ShareTheMeal initiative.
