Qatar air defences intercepted 10 drones and two missiles launched from Iran early Wednesday, authorities confirmed, preventing any damage.

DOHA: Qatar’s armed forces confirmed they successfully neutralised multiple aerial threats on Wednesday after a Qatar drone missile interception operation stopped drones and cruise missiles launched from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence said a total of 10 drones and two cruise missiles were intercepted in coordinated defensive actions carried out by different branches of the armed forces. Officials stated that the incident occurred early Wednesday morning and caused no reported damage.

According to the Qatar News Agency, the Qatar Amiri Air Defence Forces intercepted six drones during the initial stage of the Qatar drone missile interception operation. The Qatar Amiri Air Force later intercepted two additional drones along with two incoming cruise missiles.

Meanwhile, the Qatar Amiri Naval Forces intercepted the remaining two drones as they approached Qatari airspace. Defence officials said the multi-layered response demonstrated the country’s integrated security systems and rapid coordination between military units.

Authorities confirmed that all incoming aerial threats were successfully neutralised before reaching strategic locations. No casualties or infrastructure damage were reported following the Qatar drone missile interception.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence reaffirmed the country’s readiness to respond to any threat to its sovereignty or territorial integrity. The ministry said Qatar’s armed forces possess “the full capabilities and resources to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territory and to respond firmly to any external threat”.

Security agencies continue to monitor the situation and assess developments in the region. Officials emphasised that national defence systems remain on high alert as tensions across the Gulf region persist.

The incident comes amid heightened regional security concerns, prompting Gulf states to maintain strengthened surveillance and defensive readiness around critical infrastructure and national airspace.
