SIBF 2025 celebrates Greek cultural exchange, uniting Greece and Sharjah through literature, philosophy, art, and historical dialogue.
Sharjah: The 44th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) will celebrate Greek cultural exchange, marking a significant milestone in cross-cultural dialogue. The announcement by Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), declared Greece as Guest of Honour, highlighting its profound influence on global civilisation through literature, philosophy, and the arts.
During the official signing at Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre, Sheikha Bodour emphasised Greece’s enduring legacy—from Homer’s epics to Socratic thought—positioning the 2025 edition of SIBF as a platform to explore shared narratives between Greek and Arab cultures. She stated, “Greece’s participation is an exciting opportunity to discover the shared origins of our myths and tales.”
SBA CEO Ahmed Al Ameri underlined that Greek cultural exchange enriches the fair’s history of international partnerships. He noted that SIBF has evolved into a global publishing hub, championing diversity and cultural innovation. He added, “Hosting Greece adds depth to our mission of cultural outreach.”
Greek Deputy Minister of Culture, Jasonas Fotilas, echoed these sentiments, praising the initiative for strengthening bilateral ties and pledging a dynamic Greek showcase of literature, art, and gastronomy. “Our cultural cooperation with SIBF deepens the bond between our nations,” he affirmed.
The Guest of Honour programme will include classical and contemporary Greek literature, theatre, art exhibitions, and educational activities. Visitors can expect engaging dialogues on philosophy, interactive performances, and encounters with renowned Greek authors.
By spotlighting Greek cultural exchange, the 44th SIBF reinforces Sharjah’s commitment to global dialogue, literary enrichment, and cultural understanding.
