Sharjah’s Ruler inaugurates Al Dhaid Wildlife Museum, a major environmental education hub featuring desert ecosystems, rare species, and interactive exhibits.

AL DHAID: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the Al Dhaid Wildlife Museum on Saturday at its new location beside Souq Sharia’t Al Dhaid. The launch marks a milestone in the emirate’s environmental education and sustainability efforts.

The museum, developed by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority, offers immersive educational experiences through interactive displays across several themed halls dedicated to desert flora, fauna, birds, insects and traditional life. The building covers 2,755 square metres and integrates advanced digital tools, virtual reality, and scientific content tailored for all ages, from children to researchers.

H.H. delivered a speech highlighting the importance of science-based environmental protection. He outlined efforts including Sharjah’s seed bank project, collaborations with international institutions, and successes in sustainable desert agriculture, such as water-saving wheat cultivation.

The museum features Desert, Plant, Insect, Animal, and Bird Halls, as well as book libraries, a dedicated children’s space, and labs for research and environmental education. Its architecture combines local heritage design with sustainable elements to reflect and preserve the region’s identity.

H.H. emphasised that Al Dhaid Wildlife Museum is a key pillar in building ecological awareness and scientific curiosity, particularly among the youth. He reaffirmed his commitment to empowering the Central Region through projects that provide employment, protect nature, and reinforce cultural identity.
