Dubai Airport releases statements on flight disruption due to weather

Dubai: Dubai Airports has issued a statement on their website confirming that, due to the ongoing severe weather conditions in the UAE, Dubai International (DXB) is currently diverting inbound flights scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, 16 April. Departures, however, are continuing as normal.

The airport emphasizes that they are actively working with response teams and service partners to restore regular operations and minimize disruptions for customers. They advise travelers to check with their airline directly for the latest flight status, allow for extra travel time to the airport, and consider using the Dubai Metro if feasible.

Earlier, the airport reported significant disruptions at Dubai International (DXB) due to heavy rain and flooding on Tuesday, 16 April. Operations were briefly suspended for 25 minutes during the afternoon due to the intense storm but have since resumed and are in the process of recovery. Several flights have been canceled or diverted, and there is major flooding on access roads leading to the airport.

The unsettled weather is expected to cause further delays and disruptions into the early hours of Wednesday, 17 April. Response teams are actively engaged, collaborating with airlines and service partners to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Travelers are advised to stay updated with their airline for the latest flight information and plan accordingly, taking into account extended travel times and utilizing the Dubai Metro for smoother transit.
