DUBAI: The 24th edition of the Airport Show 2025 highlighted groundbreaking innovations in aviation technology that aim to fast-track digital transformation in airports. With participation from over 30 countries, the event showcased AI, biometric identity, control systems, and sustainability-focused solutions that redefine airport efficiency, safety, and passenger experience.

Key highlight Smiths Detection introduced its Hi-Scan 6040 CTiX Model-S, an advanced checkpoint scanner using computed tomography to boost both security and passenger flow.

Australian firm DroneShield demonstrated its AI-powered SensorFusion and RF detection systems for counter-drone defence—essential tech as drones pose increasing threats to airport operations. “We’re focused on safeguarding airports from the surge in drone activity,” said Tim Butcher, Sales Director, DroneShield.

Biometric leader IDEMIA launched seamless security systems combining facial and iris recognition with AI-powered baggage handling. “We see digital identity as the foundation of smarter airports,” noted Gaurav Gupta, IDEMIA’s SVP of Global Sales.

Barco showcased its CTRL platform with TruePix visual displays, giving airport control rooms real-time insights to drive faster decision-making. “Our systems offer the agility modern airports demand,” said Barco’s André Herbst.

Forbo Movement Systems focused on sustainability, launching Amp Miser, an energy-saving conveyor belt that cuts power use by 50%, and EcoFiber, made from recycled PET, enhancing performance while reducing environmental impact.

Delta Dassault revealed POLARIS and VISTA lighting systems for tactical and airfield use, featuring wireless control and rugged deployment, ideal for emergency and remote operations.

Amana Aviation Fueling also joined the show, aiming to align with global airport networks, including major UAE hubs.

These innovations signal a bold leap in digitalisation, aligning airports with the future of smarter, safer and more sustainable air travel.
