Airfares reduce for IndiGo flights from January onwards

IndiGo, a leading airline in India, announced the removal of the fuel charge applicable on its domestic and international routes, effective January 4, 2024. The airlines had introduced n increase of the fuel charge in October 2023 whice was in response to the surge in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices. However, with the recent reduction in ATF prices, IndiGo has decided to withdraw the charge.

Given the dynamic nature of ATF prices, IndiGo will continue to adjust its fares and components accordingly, responding to any changes in prices or market conditions. The airline remains dedicated to its commitment of providing affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel for its customers.

IndiGo has made history by becoming the first Indian airline to transport 100 million passengers in a single calendar year, placing it among a select group of global carriers operating on such a significant scale. This accomplishment solidifies IndiGo’s position among the world’s top 10 largest airlines by passenger traffic.

In 2023, which marked its 17th anniversary, IndiGo rapidly reached the 100 million passenger milestone, showcasing its status as one of the fastest airlines to achieve this feat. In the calendar year 2022, the airline welcomed 78 million passengers on board, slightly surpassing pre-Covid19 levels. The recent milestone represents a remarkable 22% increase in passenger traffic for 2023. IndiGo also achieved another milestone for India, becoming the first airline to operate more than 2,000 flights a day. Currently, IndiGo serves 118 destinations, including 32 international destinations.
