DUBAI: Decision-making, education, and child marriage were on the agenda as Expo 2020 Dubai marked the International Day of the Girl.

Panelists discussed key issues at the ‘We Can! Girls’ Voices for Girls’ Empowerment’ event in the Women’s Pavilion, hosted by international charity Save the Children.

Led by teenagers from Egypt and Lebanon and using a mix of storytelling, poetry, puppetry, and ‘artivism’ (art+activism), the talks focussed on the need to address the challenges girls face and promote their empowerment.

Moderator Heba Al Emara; Hind Al Owais, Senior Vice President of Participants Management, Expo 2020 Dubai; and Gwen Hines, CEO of Save the Children UK offered introductory remarks.

A message from Nouneh Sarkissian, First Lady of Armenia was also played during proceedings.
