UAE President inaugurates Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi as part of 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, highlighting Sheikh Zayed’s legacy and the nation’s cultural heritage.
ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates officially opened the Zayed National Museum in Saadiyat Cultural District on the occasion of Eid Al Etihad. The inauguration was attended by Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Crown Princes, deputy rulers, ministers and senior officials — marking a significant cultural milestone for the country.
The museum honours the memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, showcasing the history, heritage and values of the UAE through immersive storytelling and a rich collection of artefacts. The museum’s narrative spans from ancient times to the present day, offering visitors a journey through the country’s heritage and identity.
Architecturally, the museum is a landmark: its design features five steel structures shaped like falcon wings — symbolising the UAE’s cultural identity and its aspirations. The museum will house more than 3,000 objects, with around 1,500 on display across six galleries. These galleries will cover a wide range of themes including the nation’s early history, natural environment, archaeological heritage, coastal and maritime traditions, ancestral life, and cultural identity.
Following the inauguration, the President and attending dignitaries toured the museum’s galleries. A vibrant cultural programme has been launched to accompany the opening, with guided tours, interactive workshops and exhibitions designed to engage people of all ages and foster a deeper connection with the UAE’s past and heritage.
