FIFA suddenly drops major football proposal as UAEFA welcomes decision

The UAE Football Association has welcomed FIFA’s decision to withdraw the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise initiative.

ABU DHABI: The UAE Football Association (UAEFA) has welcomed FIFA’s decision not to move ahead with the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) initiative, saying the move is in the best interests of football around the world.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Football Association, said the decision helps protect the unity of the global football community and ensures the sport continues to move forward together.

He stressed that major decisions affecting world football should always be carefully considered, with the interests of the game, its fans and national football associations coming first.

According to Sheikh Hamdan, keeping the international football family united is essential for the long-term growth of the sport. He said the UAEFA supports ideas and projects that strengthen football while bringing national associations closer together, rather than creating divisions.

The FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal had attracted attention in recent months, but FIFA President Gianni Infantino has now decided not to proceed with the initiative.

Reacting to the announcement, Sheikh Hamdan praised the decision and expressed confidence in FIFA’s leadership. He said the UAE Football Association remains committed to supporting initiatives that help football grow at every level while protecting the interests of member associations.

He also reaffirmed the UAEFA’s backing for FIFA’s wider efforts to build a stronger and more sustainable future for football.

The UAE Football Association has consistently supported international cooperation and programmes that improve the game, encourage development and create more opportunities for players, clubs and national teams.

With the proposal now officially withdrawn, the focus is expected to return to existing FIFA development programmes aimed at supporting football associations worldwide.
