DUBAI: The private school sector in Dubai is thriving, with a 6% increase in student enrolment during the 2024-25 academic year. A total of 387,441 students are now attending 227 private schools, according to data from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).

The opening of ten new private schools this year highlights Dubai’s commitment to expanding its education sector. This aligns with the city’s Education Strategy E33, which aims to establish 100 new private schools by 2033. These schools cater to Dubai’s growing, diverse population, reinforcing its position as a global education hub.

Aisha Miran, Director-General of KHDA, stated, “Dubai continues to attract families seeking world-class education. The enrolment growth, particularly among Emirati students, reflects the strength of Dubai’s education ecosystem. The E33 Strategy focuses on inclusivity, innovation, and student wellbeing, empowering all learners to thrive in a globalised world.”

Private schools in Dubai offer 17 curricula, with the UK curriculum leading at 37% of enrolments, followed by the Indian (26%), US (14%), International Baccalaureate (7%), and UK/IB hybrid (4%). Emirati student enrolment reached 33,210, with the US curriculum as the top choice, followed by the UK and IB options.

Teacher numbers have also surged, with 27,284 educators now employed in Dubai’s private schools—a 9% increase from the previous year. This growth reflects Dubai’s appeal as a destination for career advancement and professional development in education.

The E33 Strategy supports Dubai’s broader economic and social goals under the D33 and Social Agenda 33, aiming to foster lifelong learning and student empowerment.
