UAE warns Iranian attacks risk global health, environment and food systems, urging stronger international cooperation at One Health Summit.

LYON: UAE warns Iranian attacks are posing serious risks beyond regional security, highlighting their impact on global health, environmental stability and food systems during the One Health Summit in France.

Representing the UAE, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh addressed international leaders at the summit, which brought together heads of state, ministers and global organisations under a unified health framework. He stressed that UAE warns Iranian attacks are affecting not only infrastructure and lives but also interconnected global systems.

Al Sayegh stated that the attacks, involving more than 2,700 drones and missiles, are damaging ecosystems, disrupting supply chains and placing pressure on essential resources. He emphasised that human, animal and environmental health are deeply interconnected, with disruptions in one area quickly impacting others.

He described the situation as a broader threat to global wellbeing, warning that energy and food security are increasingly at risk. The remarks underscored concerns that ongoing instability could have long-term consequences for public health and economic resilience worldwide.

The UAE warns Iranian attacks also highlighted the need to expand the One Health approach beyond disease control to include environmental risks such as air pollution. Officials noted that these factors contribute significantly to chronic health conditions and long-term global health burdens.

The UAE reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation, science-based policy and integrated health strategies. It also endorsed the One Health and Beyond Declaration, supporting coordinated efforts to address shared global challenges.

The summit, hosted by France, brought together major international organisations and governments to strengthen collaboration across health, environment and food systems, particularly during a period of heightened geopolitical tension.
