The UAE marked transformative achievements in 2025 across energy, housing and infrastructure, aligning with Vision 2031 and long-term sustainability goals.

ABU DHABI: The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced several landmark achievements in 2025, reflecting robust progress in energy, housing, infrastructure, and maritime development. These milestones highlight the country’s strategic vision, operational excellence, and sustained efforts to enhance quality of life.

In the housing sector, over AED2.5 billion in support was distributed through 3,567 housing decisions. This led to a homeownership rate of 91 percent among Emiratis, among the highest globally. The UAE also assumed the presidency of the UN-Habitat General Assembly for the first time and secured a seat on its Executive Council, reinforcing its global leadership in sustainable urban development.

In energy, 2025 saw the launch of the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance with over 40 participating countries. The UAE also released the State of Energy Report 2025 and joined the Water Council of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). National programmes promoting sustainable water and energy use were expanded, with a clear target to reduce energy demand by up to 45 percent by 2050.

Infrastructure efforts included a AED170 billion transport upgrade strategy through 2030, targeting a 73 percent improvement in federal road efficiency. Projects include increasing capacity on Al Ittihad and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Roads, as well as a proposed Fourth Federal Road spanning 120 kilometres.

Major sustainability initiatives were also introduced, such as the recycling of electric vehicle batteries, green farm irrigation systems, and human-centric building design. Maritime milestones included the launch of the National Maritime Navigation Centre and UAE’s re-election to the IMO’s Category B for the fifth consecutive term.

The Ministry also recorded 41 awards and secured 19 ISO certifications, launched the first digital government services centre in Fujairah, and strengthened community engagement through 30 public council meetings.

Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei noted that 2025 marked a “turning point in the integrated development of energy, housing, and infrastructure sectors,” adding that these results reflect effective governance, data-driven planning, and international partnerships.
