DUBAI: Night-swimming beaches in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1 have drawn around 1.5 million visitors within 18 months of their launch. Spanning 800 metres, these beaches offer a unique blend of luxury, safety, and round-the-clock access, enhancing Dubai’s appeal as a top tourist destination.
Dubai Municipality’s initiative to develop public beaches reflects its goal of improving quality of life for residents and tourists. Ibrahim Juma, Director of Public Beaches and Water Canals at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the project’s success, noting it offers a “distinct tourism and entertainment experience” that strengthens Dubai’s position as a global tourism leader.
The night-swimming beaches prioritise inclusivity, offering facilities for people of determination and senior citizens. Features include floating chairs, accessible rest areas, and rescue teams trained to cater to their needs. These measures align with the ‘Dubai Universal Design Code’, ensuring the beaches are welcoming for all.
Safety is a top priority, with 16 trained lifeguards, 3 rescue supervisors, and a dedicated operations team on site. Advanced lighting systems enable safe swimming from sunset to sunrise, while electronic screens share safety tips and educational content.
Dubai Municipality’s commitment to beach development is part of a broader strategy to position the emirate as a global hub for quality living, leisure, and tourism. The project aligns with Dubai’s aim to be the world’s best city for living, working, and tourism.
First introduced in May 2023, night-swimming at the three beaches reflects Dubai’s dedication to world-class recreation. By offering secure, luxury beach access at night, the city continues to attract global attention and redefine urban entertainment.
